Hello! This is my speech on sexual orientation rights and equality. I hope you are moved by it!

I Have a Dream: Sexual Orientation Equality & Rights

I have a dream, that ALL people, no matter what their sexual orientation is, can enjoy the same rights and equalities as their fellow American citizens.

A woman’s wife died, and she had a ¼ million dollar tax imposed on her inheritance from her deceased wife. Their marriage was recognized by the state, but not the federal government. Had they been a traditional couple, no tax would have been charged. Basically, just because they were lesbians, they were charged with a $250,000 fine.

The state law of same sex marriage should become federal. You love who you love-whether they are a boy or a girl-you can’t control that. Therefore, ANY person should be able to marry ANY person they love.

If we are a free and equal country, then no matter what your sexual orientation is, you should have the same rights. Whether you are gay, straight, transgender, bisexual, black, white, Asian, Hispanic, male, or female, we are all American citizens who deserve the same rights.

Our country is almost there. We have abolished slavery. We have achieved the rights of racial equality. We have achieved equal rights for women. But we still discriminate based on sexual orientation.

I have a dream that someday, no matter what your sexual orientation is, ALL will be treated equally.

I have a dream that teens will stop using the word “gay” as a replacement for “stupid.” That is like saying all gay people are stupid.

I have a dream that it will be made legal across the nation to marry whomever you wish.

I have a dream that people are not looked down upon because of their sexual orientation, but looked up to for having the courage to share their lives with those they love, despite the hate that may come their way.

We are all equal. We are all born equal. We all have the right to be treated as equal.

What if cows gave root beer instead of milk?

If cows gave root beer instead of milk, I would not be a very happy camper. Everyday when I get home from school, I have a nice, cold glass of milk. With dinner every evening, I have a nice, cold glass of milk. And every night before I brush my teeth I have a nice, cold glass of milk. If instead of drinking milk I had root beer, with my high amount of milk consumption, I would most likely be morbidly obsese by the time I am 30. And that would not be good. But with that aside I don't even like root beer, so I would have to find a new prime beverage to thrive off of besides water.
